3-Month OR 7-month Asynchronous Online Course Taught by Ariel Gore
Session One: January 5 – April 6
Spring Independent: One month off to work on your manuscript independently
Session Two: May 4 – August 3
Spend the winter, spring, and summer finishing your book . . . or writing a brand new one. In these two 3-month workshops and the month-long independent writing and editing time, you’ll generate new material for your book, polish what you’ve already got with weekly and monthly feedback, learn traditional and nontraditional plot structure, experiment wildly, and make your book a reality.
Participants will write to weekly assignments, post monthly excerpts as their books-in-progress emerge, and read and comment on one colleague’s manuscript excerpt each week.
This course is asynchronous, meaning you log on when you like. We will have optional Zoom meet-and-greets on January 5th and May 4th at noon Pacific time / 3 pm Eastern.
Writers should aim to have at least 5,000-10,000 words written by early January when the workshop starts—or by early May if you’re just joining for Session Two.
Throughout the course, expect to spend at least 12 hours a week on your book and in the online workshop.
(In the fall of 2025, when you’re done with your beautiful manuscripts, we will have a third session focused solely on publishing. Dates, tuition, and details TBA.)
