Graphic Memoir: Nuts & Bolts, Panels & Gutters

Do you want to create a graphic novel based on your life experiences or family history? Have you dreamed of creating—or even started making—a graphic memoir? Are you ready to take your project to the next level? In this hands-on course, we will look at samples from critically acclaimed graphic memoirs and discuss what makes them effective. You will receive step-by-step instruction and have the opportunity to practice techniques by creating an eight-page minicomic that can serve as a standalone zine or as a teaser for a longer work.

By the end of this course, you will have a minicomic plus a fistful of excellent tools to enhance your current and future graphic memoir projects!

Class meets online asynchronously and on Zoom on November 24, and December 1, 8, and 15. 3-5 pm Pacific / 6-8 pm Eastern. Zoom meetings will be recorded for those who cannot attend.
